A host of the New York Philharmonic’s Young People’s Concerts, Janey Choi is strongly committed to education and community engagement. As a veteran teaching artist for the New York Philharmonic, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and Lincoln Center Institute, her residencies in the New York City public schools included designing and presenting workshops and professional development for educators; and creating and performing in interactive  concerts with the Teaching Artists Ensemble of the New York Philharmonic throughout the five boroughs, for Lincoln Center’s “Meet the Artist” and “Lincoln Center Moments”, and abroad (in tours of Japan and Abu Dhabi).

Dr. Choi served on the strings and chamber music faculty of Binghamton University (State University of NY) from 2006 – 2017.  In addition to performing regularly on the faculty concert series, she soloed with the Binghamton University Orchestra several times, and initiated a collaboration with the Paul Taylor Dance Company at the Anderson Center.

She has been a Guest Lecturer for the Tokyo College of Music, Showa University and Kobe College (Japan), served as a panelist for The Juilliard School, Niigata University, and the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts. She has presented workshops for Concert Artists Guild, Orchestra of St Luke’s, the College Music Society, Metropolitan Opera Guild, Lincoln Center Institute, Virtual Seniors Center, Mecenet (South Korea), and Life With Music Project (Japan). 

Currently on the faculties of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Elisabeth Morrow School, and the Town School, Dr. Choi also maintains a private teaching studio which includes violin, viola, piano and music theory students.  Please visit the Contact page to request more information on lessons, masterclasses, lectures or hosting interactive concerts.
